School Meals
School Children can have a cooked meal or bring their own packed lunch into school.
Hot dinners are provided by Shire Services, Shropshire County Council. These are ordered through the school office and can be paid for weekly, monthly, half-termly or termly in advance. They have to be paid for by noon on Wednesday for the following week. There is a menu available to choose which weeks/days you require.
Free school lunches for KS1 are given in line with current government policy started in September 2014. We have had a very successful uptake of over 95% of KS1 children participating in hot lunches. Applications for free school meals are based on parental income. Forms are available from the school office. If you choose a packed lunch, please send the lunch in a suitable container. Children may bring their own drink, but fresh water is always available. No glass bottles or fizzy drinks please. No sweets or chocolate bars (biscuits are ok) in lunch boxes. Any food containing nuts are prohibited as we have children in school with severe nut allergies.
Lunch Times
There is a team of lunchtime supervisors on duty throughout the lunch break. The children are encouraged, but never forced, to finish their meal. We encourage good table manners but they are allowed to relax and talk just as adults do during the meal.
Break Times
Children may have milk. This is purchased on line from www.coolmilk.com and is delivered daily. We encourage the eating of fruit at break times and, as part of a government scheme, KS1 children are entitled to a free, high quality, piece of fruit each morning break. Children in KS2 may bring in a piece of fruit or other healthy snack from home if they wish. Sweets, crisps and biscuits are prohibited.
Children may bring in a drink for break time. No glass bottles or fizzy drinks please
